Plastic and Aerospace Industry
The aerospace industry begins using plastic materials to manufacture a variety of internal and external aerospace parts, which helps to reduce body weight and improve fuel efficiency, thereby helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Aerospace plastics have replaced heavy metal parts on aircraft, mainly because of the lightweight nature of plastic materials, and because of the superior properties of aerospace plastics such as stiffness, strength, toughness, density, thermal conductivity, and fatigue and corrosion resistance. They are superior to traditional metals. The development of plastics is expected to drive the aviation industry, which in turn will drive demand for plastics in the aviation industry.
