INJECTION MOLDING MACHINE: WHAT IS INJECTION MOLDING MACHINE AND HOW INJECTION MOLDING MACHINE WORKS?
Injection molding machines, also known as injection molding machines BrE, also known as an injection press, are machines used to make plastic products through the injection molding process. The injection molding machine is mainly composed of two parts, an injection unit, and a clamping unit, respectively, in injection molding machines.
Operation
The injection mold can be fixed horizontally or vertically. But most machines are horizontal, while vertical machines are used for some special occasions, such as insert molding because gravity can be used. Some vertical machines also do not require the mold to be fastened. There are many ways to fasten the tool on the platen. The most common method is manual clamps (both halves are bolted to the platen), or hydraulic clamps (chocks are used to hold the tool in place) and electromagnetic clamps. Among them, electromagnetic and hydraulic clamps are mostly used where quick tool changes are required.
The person designing the mold chooses whether the mold uses a cold runner system or a hot runner system to deliver plastic and filler from the injection unit to the cavity. Cold runners are simple channels engraved in the mold. As the part cools, the plastic that fills the cold runners cools and then pops out with the part as a gate. Hot runner systems are more complex, and box heaters are often used to keep the plastic in the runners hot as the parts cool. After the part is ejected, the plastic remaining in the hot runner is injected into the next part.
